“Our need is less, greed is more.” — P. H. Prajnanananda Maharaj
************************
When my laptop started crashing intermittently, I began asking people for solutions but received only vague responses. Finally, someone glanced at my system and said, “Look at your Downloads folder—that’s the problem. Keep it to a minimum.”
What followed was two full days of decluttering—deleting unwanted files, moving some to their rightful folders, and letting go of very old, unused data. By yesterday evening, it was finally done. Hoooofffffff! Exhausting, yet liberating.
This experience felt strikingly similar to our own lives. We constantly accumulate information, emotions, experiences, and memories—from our surroundings, events, and relationships—storing them away with the idea that we may need them someday. Most often, we never do. Over time, this unnecessary accumulation becomes a burden, silently pressurising us.
The end of a year—or the beginning of a new one—offers a meaningful pause. Not necessarily for religious reasons, but as an opportunity to let go of what is old, redundant, and no longer serving us, stored deep within our subconscious. Decluttering the mind, like decluttering a device, lightens us and prepares us to move forward.
Every now and then, we must pause, reorganise, and free up space—to welcome newer thoughts, fresh ideas, and greater positivity.
Wishing you all a lighter, clearer, and more meaningful year ahead.
