Life is ephemeral

Life is ephemeral, yes we know about that. But how subtly at all levels the changes occur hardly we can realise. Anatomically, our inner lining of the gut changes completely in 3-5 days, skin upper layer (epidermis) takes 28 days, facial skin still faster 14-21 days, RBCs have a turnover of 120 days, WBCs 1-5 days, even bones change, though in about 10 years. Hence the person you meet today would be a different person anatomically after 10 years. These all involve many physiological and biochemical changes too. One good example is ageing. So is our reproductive system. With age, we go on accumulating many chemicals which can dig into our DNA too.
And then the subtlest change is spiritual one. With every inhalation we get a new birth and with exhalation, we get death. Hence with a single cycle of breath we are a new person.
Thence, cast off your lamentation, languor and aspire for the supreme for which you have got this precious human birth.
